Health conditions that are diagnosed with color doppler:

In addition to the above mentioned disorders, color doppler is an important part of routine examination during pregnancy. It helps in monitoring the blood flow through placenta to the growing fetus.
Patients have to follow some precautions before the test, depending on the body part which will be examined using color doppler. Patients who are on blood thinning medication should inform this to the radiologist who will be performing color doppler. Similarly, presence of any artificial device like pacemaker, shunt should be notified before undergoing color doppler. Any other instructions given to patients before the test should be followed to get superior results.
Color doppler test uses similar techniques to those used in USG. However, due to advanced machinery, the results are obtained in better resolution. This helps better interpretation of results and helps in establishing perfect diagnosis.
A transducer is kept in constant contact with the skin over the part of the body which is to be studied. This device emits sound waves which enable to create a series of images that are studied in order to establish a diagnosis. The transducer is gently moved along the skin till the entire area is covered and several images of underlying organs are produced. This procedure has no complications and patients are allowed to go home immediately after the test.
Other tests that may be advised along with color doppler include USG, angioplasty, MRI scan or CT scan.
