How is Dorsal Spine MRI performed?
Patients are asked to follow all the necessary steps that are required before you undergo a dorsal spine MRI scan. You must remove all the accessories you are wearing before the test. You will be given a hospital gown to wear before you enter the radiology center. If your MRI procedure involves a contrast media, nurses will create an intravenous line on your arm. Contrast material is injected through this access point to the site where scanning needs to be performed.
You will be asked to lie down on a movable flat table of the MRI machine. Your limbs will be fixed to this table using straps or bolsters to keep your body still when the table is moving to and fro for the scanning process. The upper attached scanning machine is fixed in such a way that only the required body part is scanned.
Your dorsal spinal is a section of the spinal cord that connects with rib cage. The part of your body that contains the dorsal spine will be placed between the magnetic region of the MRI machine. Scanned images are recorded and provided as input to the computer screen. Computer screen displays all the recorded pictures one by one. Images are recorded at different angles depending on the purpose of your scanning process.
The procedure of dorsal spine MRI requires 30-60 minutes to complete. Time varies according to the size of the body part being scanned. The MRI scan test can either be carried out as an inpatient or outpatient procedure depending upon the requirement of the patient. In case of dorsal MRI with contrast media, it take additional 20 minutes time for the imaging process.
