List of Diagnostic Centres in Bhilai

Pathological laboratories are places where tissue samples from patient's body are processed for obtaining conclusive reports. The numbers in the reports are then compared with standard levels or reporting figures. These parameters then decide whether results are positive or negative. That proves or disproves presence or absence of foreign bodies in the person's sample. These reports help the doctor in confirming or ruling out a certain disease or disorder in his or her patient. Deficiencies in the person's body are also ascertained through testing. Functioning of liver, kidneys, heart and other vital parts can also be investigated through diagnostic and pathological tests.

National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is the government accreditation body for laboratories. Diagnostic centers and pathological laboratories if certified by NABL are considered highly reliable. Safety and hygiene, accuracy of diagnostic equipment, availability of advanced technological support are few parameters on whose ground the laboratory may or may not get NABL certification.

Pathological Testing for diagnostic purposes is as necessary as the later treatment plan. It is also very essential if you have children at home. Read on to know the different types of tests children are prescribed:

  • Eye examinations: Eye examinations are important diagnostic methods because they are useful in assessing and finding vision problems in children. Children hardly can point it out themselves if they are having any eye disorders, hence the tests are a crucial way to know. That makes treating them easier. Tests consist of checking for color blindness, whether the child has myopia or hypermetropia, childhood cataract or any other eye disorder. These tests can be done on any child between 3 days to 4-5 years of age.
  • Hearing Tests: Like eye examinations are necessary to know about vision problems in children, so are hearing tests. Hearing problems that are detected at an early age can be resolved soon and that would prevent the child's academic and social life from getting affected. Pure Tone Audiometry, Tympanometry, Play Audiometry are few hearing tests children can undergo. However, it is also important to note signs and symptoms like poor attention span, reduced responsiveness, viewing the television on a higher volume that define hearing loss. Infections that have happened to the baby's ears at birth or those that are inherited can be detected through the tests.
  • Allergy Testing: Signs like asthma, coughing, sore throat are few signs that call for allergy testing in your baby. The testing can be done through blood samples and through introduction of allergens into the skin. Allergies in children need not be nightmares for parents, once they understand the reasons or agents that are causing those symptoms.
  • Iron Deficiency: Iron deficiencies occur when the child doesn't consume enough sources of this nutrient. That can also lead to anemia. Anemia in turn can cause mental and developmental issues in children. In testing for iron deficiencies, red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit and ferritin levels are checked and studied. That helps the doctor confirm or rule out iron deficiency anemia in the child.
