What are thyroid hormones?
Thyroid hormones are the ones produced by an endocrine gland called thyroid gland. The common hormones produced by thyroid gland are thyroxine, i.e., tetraiodothyronine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), and calcitonin (which helps in calcium homeostasis). In a normal thyroid test, doctors also suggest to go for the testing of another hormone called TSH, i.e., thyroid stimulating hormone, which regulates the functioning of thyroid gland.
